What I liked from my method?
The things that I really liked from this topic is that the teacher promotes independence, autonomy and responsibility in the students; so, the students have to investigate and try to discover new things according to the objectives they have. In this method, the students make a bigger effort because they have to do all the things that the teacher doesn't do, and they have to study very hard if they want to learn a new language, the students work with their own resources just for being the responsibles for their learning. When the teacher use the Silent Way, the students tend to value more the study, because they see it in a different way, since they have to make the best if they want to learn a foreign language.
Another thing that I liked is that the silent way helps in language classes to use the logical part, since they learn a lot of grammar, and that ensures logical learning of the language. The teacher encourage students to produce as many statements as possible; however, it will depend on the students if they make a good use of it or not; so, the students must be aware in
the educational activity and they have to pay attention, since the
student's attention is the key to good learning.
What I didn't like from my method?
There are some things that I did not like from this topic, because it is based on the idea that the teacher keeps as quiet as possible in class, the teacher doesn’t support, and he doesn’t thrill with the good or bad errors. So, what does the teacher do? Maybe, The teacher only has the role to guide them in that process, and the learning will depend on each student if he/she wants to learn or not; for that reason, the teacher is not the center of attention.
Silent Way could be a good option to promote independence, autonomy and responsibility in the students; however, In the advanced levels is not very effective, since it faces difficulties having fulfilled the task of teaching the language, and it could become in a barrier to learning. The thing is that if the student does not have a will, he/she is not going to learn, because he/she is not going to be indepence and responsible, and maybe he/she won't want to learn by himself/herself.
What I understood from the other methods?
Audio-lingual Method:
I understood that this method develop pronounciation, and listening comprehension, and it is like the Direct Method, because they want to develop a good command of oral, and auditory language. Also places emphasis on helping students to use the target language and gives importance to learning. Its main goal is to help students to create meaningful phrases rather than helping to build grammatical structures, or achieve perfect pronunciation.
Direct Method:
I understood that this method is based on the idea that the students develop a good knowledge on the pronounciation of the words. This method teach vocabulary through objects, mime, and other visual elements and materials. It focuses on oral learning, because they work through questions and answers from teachers to students, and then between the students. It is an interesting method, because the students develop a good pronounciation.
It's an interesting way of learning because the students look for the information by them own, I think students make a doble effort to get the knowledge that they want to, but this way could has its disadvantages and I think one of them could be that the teacher sometimes don't correcte the mistakes that some of the students have and they continue doing the same mistake
ResponderEliminarThat's right Rosas, the teacher doesn't do anything to try to help the students; so, they have to make a doble effort to learn.
EliminarSo basically in this method if the student does not make an effort, he will not be able to fully develop its abilities?
EliminarThat's right Edward! In this method, the students have to make an effort if they want to learn another language. The teacher only guide them in that process.
EliminarI think that it is a little bit complicated method because as students we need help! it is true that this method teaches us how to be independent and responsible that is a big advantage but students may feel frustrated
ResponderEliminarYou are right Cristy, It is a good method, because the student learns how to be independent, and responsible; however, he/she needs a lot of help, and explanation, too.

ResponderEliminarFrom my point of view, this method is something special because the teacher is not the center of attention. He is only a kind of guide for his students, and they are responsible of their learning for example, the students have to research information about the topics that they have; moreover, they discover many things for themselves. It is good if you are responsible or if you want to learn, but you know that nowadays the majority of students expect that the teachers give them everything in their mouth. Therefore, they hope that teachers always encourage them to learn, and the students think that they are not able to do many things without the help from the teachers. It is not the true. Everybody has skills that we can develop ourselves.
ResponderEliminarIn my point of view i thing this topic is a bit controversial because some people think that teacher is the authority. he is the person responsible for the students to learn or acquire the knowledge but other people thing that is good that students learn by their own resources, not depend on the teacher. students must have independence, autonomy and responsibility. but i think teacher have to evaluate their students and see what kind of method is the most effective in teaching-learning process
