What I liked from my method?
The things that I really liked from this topic is that the teacher promotes independence, autonomy and responsibility in the students; so, the students have to investigate and try to discover new things according to the objectives they have. In this method, the students make a bigger effort because they have to do all the things that the teacher doesn't do, and they have to study very hard if they want to learn a new language, the students work with their own resources just for being the responsibles for their learning. When the teacher use the Silent Way, the students tend to value more the study, because they see it in a different way, since they have to make the best if they want to learn a foreign language.
Another thing that I liked is that the silent way helps in language classes to use the logical part, since they learn a lot of grammar, and that ensures logical learning of the language. The teacher encourage students to produce as many statements as possible; however, it will depend on the students if they make a good use of it or not; so, the students must be aware in
the educational activity and they have to pay attention, since the
student's attention is the key to good learning.
What I didn't like from my method?
There are some things that I did not like from this topic, because it is based on the idea that the teacher keeps as quiet as possible in class, the teacher doesn’t support, and he doesn’t thrill with the good or bad errors. So, what does the teacher do? Maybe, The teacher only has the role to guide them in that process, and the learning will depend on each student if he/she wants to learn or not; for that reason, the teacher is not the center of attention.
Silent Way could be a good option to promote independence, autonomy and responsibility in the students; however, In the advanced levels is not very effective, since it faces difficulties having fulfilled the task of teaching the language, and it could become in a barrier to learning. The thing is that if the student does not have a will, he/she is not going to learn, because he/she is not going to be indepence and responsible, and maybe he/she won't want to learn by himself/herself.
What I understood from the other methods?
Audio-lingual Method:
I understood that this method develop pronounciation, and listening comprehension, and it is like the Direct Method, because they want to develop a good command of oral, and auditory language. Also places emphasis on helping students to use the target language and gives importance to learning. Its main goal is to help students to create meaningful phrases rather than helping to build grammatical structures, or achieve perfect pronunciation.
Direct Method:
I understood that this method is based on the idea that the students develop a good knowledge on the pronounciation of the words. This method teach vocabulary through objects, mime, and other visual elements and materials. It focuses on oral learning, because they work through questions and answers from teachers to students, and then between the students. It is an interesting method, because the students develop a good pronounciation.
